Our goals are to:

  • optimise functional ability and independence through targeted rehabilitation programmes that promote physical activity, movement, strength and balance training
  • promote health and positive ageing, and prevent complications associated with illness, immobility, or reduced activity
  • empower patients and their carers to understand and manage their condition
  • uphold excellence in clinical standards and evidence-based practice
  • advance our service through research, training, and continuous quality improvement

Physiotherapy Sessions

All in-patients admitted to Clontarf Rehabilitation Hospital are assessed by a physiotherapist. Each patient receives an individualised, goal-oriented, evidence-based programme tailored to their specific needs and goals.

Physiotherapy sessions take place either on the ward or in our fully equipped Physiotherapy Gym, located on the ground floor. In addition to one‑to‑one treatment, the Physiotherapy Department offers a variety of regular group exercise classes and Falls Prevention education sessions.

Services are available to in-patients of Clontarf Rehabilitation Hospital only. There is no outpatient physiotherapy service.

Education

The Physiotherapy Department provides undergraduate clinical placements for physiotherapy students from the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI).
