Our Aims:

  • Provide and deliver care through individualised care plans from admission to discharge with a focus on functional recovery.
  • Deliver safe, high quality clinical care including advanced wound care, IV therapies and ongoing clinical monitoring.
  • Implement risk assessment and prevention strategies (e.g. Falls prevention, pressure ulcer prevention and medication safety).
  • Support patient and family engagement in care and decision making.
  • Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Monitor patient progress and track patient outcomes, supporting functional recovery and independence.
  • Support quality improvement through audit, incident reporting and performance monitoring aligned with national standards.
  • Use data and information to inform decision-making and improve the quality of care.
  • Promote professional development, reflective practice, and ongoing education within the nursing team.

Education

Our Nursing Department support clinical placements for nursing undergraduate and postgraduate placements from UCD and RCSI. We also support Pre- Nursing and Health Care Assistant clinical placement in partnership with Cathal Brugha FET College.
