Our X-Ray Department
Our X-ray Department offers a general imaging service for all inpatients, and a GP outpatient service for adults, by appointment only.
Services Provided:
- General X-Ray
- GP Patient X Ray by appointment
Service Hours:
Monday-Friday: 08.30-15.30
Outpatient appointments are given to patients between 10.30am and 14.15 Monday to Friday.
Radiology Administration service service is afternoons only between 14.00 and 17.00 Monday-Friday.

Appointments
Inpatients:
If you require a plain X-ray while you are an inpatient this will be carried out in the X Ray Department.
Outpatient GP appointments:
If you require an outpatient GP appointment, we must receive a referral from your GP in either of the following ways:
- The GP can send the referral in via email to xray@ioh.ie
- The referral can be posted in to the X-ray department at Clontarf Hospital, Blackheath park, Clontarf, Dublin 3, D03AY95
- Leaving the referral letter at the hospital reception.
Results:
The X-ray images will be interpreted by a consultant radiologist and a report will be issued to the referring doctor. The X-ray images and report are stored on the National Integrated Medical Imaging System (NIMIS)
Note for all women of childbearing age:
Females within the age range of 12-55 years may be asked to complete a pregnancy status declaration form, indicating pregnancy status and last menstrual period (LMP), when having an X-ray between the diaphragm and symphysis pubis. If you have any doubt about your pregnancy status contact your GP.
